Burning Down the House

I can’t remember the last time I’ve ever spent so much time thinking about a plot point.

As I’ve stated in this space, I am a huge book nut, so things like unexpected twists and interesting turns in a story aren’t anything new to me. But after I finished reading Voice’s latest offering, House & Home by Kathleen McCleary, and I can’t get this line from the opening page out of my head: “And it was because of all this history with the house, all the parts of her life unfolding there day after day for so many years, that Ellen decided to burn it down.” And I can’t figure out why it’s affected me so.
